Newham's New Way - With Euromec
Twelve Brava pedestrian sweepers from Euromec have been brought into service in the London Borough of Newham as part of a campaign to improve the environment in housing estates across the borough. Euromec has also supplied an Atom ride-on sweeper for the main routes through the estates.
Newham decided to make life easier for the caretakers who are at the forefront of the clean-up campaign by supplying them with mechanised sweepers in place of manual sweeping and litter-picking methods.
Brava sweepers were chosen because of their manoeuvrability and ability to reach into awkward corners on the estates, which are home to around 22,000 tenants. Light-weight yet robust in design, the Brava is ideal for urban cleaning applications, it leaves the swept area completely litter and dust free.
Carl Stephenson, Housing and Community Services (Housing Executive Officer) for Newham said: “Keeping the streets clean is an essential part of improving the environment and the way tenants see us. Our caretakers play a vital role in that and it is important we give them the right equipment to do the job well.”
Newham initially hired two Atom ride-on sweepers and five Brava pedestrian sweepers. The Atom is a small ride-on sweeper capable of sweeping larger areas more quickly than the Brava. With experience of using the machines Newham realised that they needed more Bravas but only one Atom. Euromec was happy to change the hire contract.
Euromec managing director Peter Crewe said: “This is all about working in partnership with our customers, helping them to decide what is best to meet their needs and taking a flexible approach to the working relationship.”
Euromec’s Brava and Atom machines are both high performance sweeping machines ideal for urban and commercial cleaning tasks. They both feature a highly effective up-and-over sweeping system and vacuumised brushes - a system used on all Euromec machines.
As the London Borough of Newham found in their trials the Atom and Brava perform very well in an urban cleaning application. They will collect all types of litter and debris, including fast food packaging and bottles, while leaving the swept area dust free. Powerful vacuum systems with large filters ensure the cleaning performance of both machines is maintained in the most dusty environment.
Both machines are easy to use, light and manoeuvrable and will work for long periods between empties of the collection hoppers. Both the Atom and the Brava are available with either petrol or electric power, and are very popular with operators.
As well as Newham, machines from Euromec are helping to keep the streets clean in many other areas of London, including Camden and Westminster.
